The Embassy requests that wardens pass the following message in its entirety to
members of the American Community:
The U.S. Government has received new information of a potential threat to oil facilities in the Eastern Province, including those operated by Saudi Aramco. New information indicates threats against westerners living in Saudi Arabia continue. We are advising U.S. government employees to avoid non-essential travel to oil facilities, and recommend that American citizens take all possible precautions. American citizens in Saudi Arabia are advised to consult with the following Department of State most recent travel advisories.
Problem is that Iran has stated earlier that if attacked it would attack Saudi Arabian oil fields and shut down oil traffic through the Straits of Hormuz. Of course, the proposed war has already been "war gamed" to show no possibility of American military victory and disasterous results predicted, but that little dose of reality won't stop those who are both deeply behind in the polls and who can "create reality" (they haven't done a good job so far though).
So does this mean that the US knows or suspect that if engaged in a confrontation with Iran then Americans are at great risk in Saudi Arabia? Weazl would guess yes, and the fact that this warning is released when a massive naval flotilla is headed towards the very spot in question does not bode well for us all.
As weazl has said earlier: he hopes for the best, but expects the worst. And this press release encourages his more pessimistic premonitions.
