CDC mystery disease study heads toward finish line

The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, partnering with Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Division of Research, will complete the second phase of its study of the mysterious, and some say nonexistent, Morgellons disease later this month.

The CDC launched the study in January, after Congress received thousands of letters from people claiming to suffer from the disease, characterized by skin lesions, rashes and unexplained fibers found in various parts of the body.

The first stage consisted of identifying all Kaiser Permanente members who may have gone to a physician with symptoms suggestive of Morgellons at any point during the 18 months between July 1, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2007. Researchers then determined whether they met eligibility criteria for the study. In stage two, all eligible members were invited to complete a comprehensive Web-based or telephone survey that examined the duration and severity of a variety of symptoms, reported exposures, other possible precipitating factors and any treatments that may have been found to help.

According to CDC Spokesman David Daigle, in the third, and final, phase of the investigation, those with active symptoms will be invited to come to the Division of Research for an extensive clinical examination, including collection of skin biopsies, blood and urine samples.

Researchers hope that the investigation will help doctors learn more about Morgellons, such as who may be affected, the symptoms associated with the disease, and the factors that might have contributed to it. Results of the study will be released by early 2009.

Also, later this month, a new show on CBS called “The Doctors” is slated to film a two-part segment on Morgellons disease. The show is expected to air in September.

All of this would seem to be good news for Morgellons sufferers. However, even among those, there are some who are distrustful of the CDC’s study and not optimistic about media coverage.

“I do not count on the CDC, which is one of the reasons why I am working so hard to bring awareness myself,” says Laura Galvez, a victim of Morgellons. Galvez took it upon herself to put together a packet containing information about Morgellons that Randy Wymore, a researcher at Oklahoma State University, has been compiling for the past five years, and present it to senators and congressmen representing her home state of Utah.

Galvez, 50, has suffered from Morgellons for more than five years. She says the disease forced her to quit her job and exhaust her Social Security benefits. Before contracting Morgellons, Galvez says she was always fit and active.


“Now I just look like a skinny little old lady,” she says.

According to information on its Web site, the CDC “has received an increased number of inquiries regarding an unexplained skin condition which some refer to as ‘Morgellons.’ Persons who suffer from this unexplained skin condition report a range of cutaneous (skin) symptoms including crawling, biting and stinging sensations; granules, threads, fibers, or black speck-like materials on or beneath the skin; and/or skin lesions (e.g., rashes or sores). In addition to skin manifestations, some sufferers also report fatigue, mental confusion, short term memory loss, joint pain, and changes in vision.”

The CDC does not consider Morgellons a reportable disease, and refers to it as “unexplained dermopathy.” Despite that, the Morgellons Research Foundation fully supports the efforts by the CDC and Kaiser Permanente.

“We have been asking for it and are pleased [research] has finally begun,” says Doug Buckner, associate director of the MRF. Buckner hopes that the CDC study will open the door for people with Morgellons to receive proper medial treatment.

The MRF plans to continue financially assisting ongoing efforts by private researchers already dedicated to finding out more about Morgellons disease.

While there is currently no cure for Morgellons, possible treatments abound. Some Morgellons sufferers, like Wisconsin resident Judith Knilans, have found that using light therapy helps soothe symptoms, even if only temporarily. Knilans, who has had Morgellons for more than 10 years, says it was her doctor, who was running a clinical trial that treated herpes by using lights and dye, who suggested she try light therapy. At that time, he thought her condition was a mutation of herpes, chicken pox and shingles, all of which are members of the same viral family. Knilans says she had excellent results, but her improvement seemed to stall after a month. She began experimenting with different lights and oils, and found a process that worked even better than the treatment her doctor had used.

Karen Wells, a registered nurse in Indiana, has suffered from Morgellons since 2005 and, she says, lost a friend to the disease in 2004.

“Everything is so uncertain, but is does kill,” she insists. “I have seen [Morgellons disease] kill not just my friend, but in the hospital where I work.”

Wells, who works in a neurology unit, says that she sees Morgellons lesions on patients who don’t know they have it. The lesions are sometimes accompanied by cognitive symptoms such as anxiety attacks, panic and nightmares, she says.

“I hate waking up and pulling the covers off me and checking my skin every day to see what new horror is possibly there,” Wells says.

Until recently, attempts to find information about Morgellons on the Web would result in referrals to pages that discussed “delusional parasitosis”—a mental health condition characterized by the belief that one has parasites or bugs crawling on one’s skin.

“My mother passed away thinking I was crazy,” says Wells. “My father won’t talk to me because he feels that my mother could have lived the last days of her life without having to worry about me and this ‘crazy’ disease.”

A few weeks ago, the syndicated “Dr. Phil” program aired an episode spotlighting Morgellons. Knilans was a guest on the show, but the reaction of the Morgellons community was a collective shrug.

“I can almost predict the outcome, especially if this is an older show,” posted one user on the Web site www.morgellons-disease-research.com. “They will look at all of the previously published research in a very logical and methodical way and perhaps mention the CDC study and say ‘We will just have to wait and see what their conclusions are before we decide.’”

According to Knilans, all of the lab tests and biopsies performed on her came back normal, causing doctors to claim that it was all in her head.

“This is a story you will hear again and again for those with this disease,” Knilans writes in an e-mail to The Sunday Paper. “We have to bring awareness that this is real—and it is spreading. We have a huge problem and it is being ignored.”

Buckner agrees: “A doctor told me that if it is not in the medical books or journals, then it does not exist, and that he could not treat what does not exist.”

According to Stubblebine and Laibow, "The story is a long, complicated one, winding its way from China to France by way of the First World War, the Oil Cartel, the Pharmaceutical Cartel and Iraq to its final destination: a syringe full of something claiming to be a vaccine against the newly-deadly Avian Flu.

"Our best intelligence estimate is that pandemic Avian Flu has already been created through genetic engineering in the United States, fusing the deadly genome of the 1918 Pandemic, misnamed the 'Spanish Flu', with the DNA of the innocuous H5N1 virus in a growth medium of human kidney cells, according to the National Institutes of Health and the vaccine's manufacturer. Some virologists believe that this would insure that the man-made mutant virus recognizes human cells and knows how to invade them."

"A basic virological fact that the public has not been told is that it is impossible to make a vaccine against a virus that does not yet exist. Public relations efforts to the contrary, IF a vaccine is being made against the Avian Flu virus in its pandemic form, that means that the pandemic virus must already exist, period, end of discussion. The Natural Solutions Foundation notes with alarm that the genome of the 1918 pandemic, the so-called "Spanish Flu", was recently intentionally resurrected by the United States government. Because of that resurrection, both the Avian Flu, and its "vaccine" are now a significant threat to public health.

The Spanish Flu, which was not Spanish at all, was created in the U.S. through an early bioweapons program and injected into healthy young men (i.e., 'soldiers') as the first mandatory vaccination in the military during WWI (also known as the "War to End Wars" and the "Great War"). The "Spanish Flu", which originated in Kansas on U.S. Military bases, killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, and millions worldwide. It was one of the deadliest pandemics in modern history. It was also one of the most successful biological weapons ever created, until now.

"We can see that the pharmaceutical industry and US government are actively preparing for an Avian Flu pandemic through their own promotional literature and propaganda," continues Laibow. To date, there have only been around 385 human cases of Avian Flu identified worldwide (assuming those identifications are trustworthy, of course), with 243 deaths. But, aspartame is not under the gun, instead, a supposedly currently non-pandemic Avian Flu is the focus.

What Chemtrails Really Are

What are they ultimately trying to do up there -- is create charged-particle, plasma beam weapons.

Chemtrails are the medium - GWEN pulse radars, the various HAARPs, and space-based lasers are the method, or more simply:

Chemtrails are the medium. Directed energy is the method.

Spray and Zap.

This system appears to be in Russia, Canada, the United States, and all of Europe. Exotic weapons can be mobile, stationary, land-based, aerial, or satellite.

It is an offensive and defensive system against EM attacks and missiles. It uses ionospheric particle shells as defense mechanisms [like a bug-zapper shell]* against missiles and EM attacks. That means they spray and then pump up the spray with electromagnetics.

When these shells are created using the oscillating, electromagnetic, gyrotron stations, it "excludes" and displaces the background magnetic field. These shells can be layered one above another in a canopy fashion for extra protection from missiles.

The chemtrail sprays have various elements in them like carbon which can used to absorb microwaves. Some of these sprays have metal flakes in them that make aerial craft invisible to radar. Spoofer sprays. Sprays like these can be used to create colorful, magnetized plasmas to cloak fighter jets.

There are satellite weapons involved. Activists are using meters and are getting readings of microwaves, x-rays, and some other kind of emission that they are not sure of, maybe a low-intensity laser.

They are also photographing gas plasma generation due to the heating of chemtrails by electromagnetics. The technical names for vertical and horizontal plasma columns are columnar focal lenses and horizontal drift plasma antennas.

Various size of gas plasma orbs are associated with this technology. These orbs can be used as transmitters and receivers because they have great, refractory and optical properties. They also are capable of transmitting digital or analog sound. Barium, in fact, is very refractive -- more refractive than glass.

What does that mean? Someone or someones are very involved in unconstitutional, domestic spying and the entrained plasma orbs carried on electromagnetic beams can be used for mind control programming. The satellites can be programmed to track and monitor various frequencies on different parts of your body.

These electromagnetic beams carrying the gas plasma orbs stick due magnetic polarity and frequency mapping and tracking to people's eyes, ears, temples, and private parts. A beam with entrained orbs carries pictures in each orb just like the different frames in a movie. It is a particle beam that is also a frequency weapon.

The satellites download holographic mind control movies, pictures, sounds, and sensations to people through this technology. The Air Force has stated in "Air Force 2025" that their goal is to develop virtual and augmented reality mind control. Depending on the how the computer is programmed or depending on the mood or intent of the person interfacing with the technology, you can be probed, bothered, gaslighted, frightened, manipulated, electronically raped, or tortured. It scans your brain frequencies and deciphers your thoughts. The satellites track you by mapping your bioenergetic signature [body biometrics] and constantly scanning an area to find you.

We are the lab rats for this technology and something is very wrong in the military or intelligence branches somewhere. Because developmental projects in government and military are often so compartmentalized, I suppose someone could be using and developing this technology secretly and without authorization. Then again, behavioral and mind control programs were an authorized policy under MKULTRA. Our country has a history of experimenting on its citizens. We are talking about satellite charged-particle frequency weapons attacking a person 24 hours a day. Psychotronic weapons are considered weapons of mass destruction by the U.N.

"HAARPs" can create earthquakes and can also x-ray the earth to find underground military bases, gold, or oil reserves. These ionospheric heaters can also operate as an over-the-horizon or under-the-ocean communications system. This system can control the weather or create disasters. Taken together with the aurora keyhole through-your-roof satellite surveillance system, Echelon electronic computer/phone sweeps, plasma-cloaked DOD Drug War helicopters and stealths, implants, and cameras on the street, it constitutes one, big global and space control grid.

These weapons involve beams. Two beams overlapped will couple into a particle-ion beam that will bounce off of a remote target and send a holographic image back to the satellite for remote spying operations. When you cross two strong beams, you can supposedly* create scalar energies. These energies can be used as untraceable weapons for nuclear size explosions or for defense. These crossed-energies can be used to cause a person's physical electrical system to fail or with a lower frequency, administer a kind of remote electro-shock. Visualize touching a positive and negative electric cable to each other on top of your head. Scalar energies can be utilized in hand-held military guns and on tanks. They can dud-out electronics or cause large, electrical blackouts. Scalar energies are practically impossible to shield against. You need lead, ceramics, and a deep underground facility to not be affected by these weapons. Or, you need to be up and above the field of battle.

People who are working on these issues hear tones and hums. If you hear persistent tones and static; have body vibrations, burning sensations, "bangs" to the head, neurological damage, or immune system damage; are hearing electronic voices or hearing the sound of a plasma; suffering from pains deep in your organs or constant headaches; or experiencing other anomalous activity then you may be being targeted by directed energy, mind control weapons. These weapons could be on helicopters, jets, stealth fighters, or on satellites. Directed energy beams and electromagnetic waves can be sent to you via hand-held devices or piggy-backed in on cell phone and satellite towers.

Is it possible that someone(s) are very afraid of coming famines and riots due to the ongoing, man-induced failure of the ecological system, and they are saturating the earth with chemtrails for large-scale, gas plasma mind control? Is this the last grasp for the world's resources? Or, are they just control freaks and money mongers? Someone would like to get to that oil under the melting [due to chemtrail-trapped EM heat] Artic. And, I guess the Third World is not a part of this system. I don't think that the developed nations are going to let them in on this either.

Any country that joins this NATO system will become mind-controlled and diseased due to the associated, intense, oscillating, electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic soup, and the poisonous, toxic chemtrails. Our DNA will break. We risk the earth's spin and tilt becoming messed up due to mucking around with the magnetic fields through this military technology. Maybe, it is already messed up.

It constitutes U.S. global domination via NATO and the erosion of civil rights. According to Charlotte Iserbyt and Al Martin, there are ex-KGB and ex-STASI advising our new Office of Total Information Awareness. They are the ones creating our new internal passports [national ID]. And under "The Treaty on Open Skies," we have overflights by Russian and German military. Who exactly is flying those plasma-cloaked craft that are seen all over this country and mistaken for UFOs by people who do not know about this aerial deception technology? Obviously, we have another "Project Paperclip" in the making. We can add the new thugs to the 2,000 Iraqi brought into country by Daddy Bush who are now living in Nebraska.

The elitist corporate government is going to hold the rest of us hostage with directed energy weapons in space, if the Policy for a New American Century group - PNAC - Bush and cronie think tank has their way, along with directed energy attacks against any country or citizen that they decide they do not like. These weapons can create climate war, weather war, mind war, cyber war, disease war, disaster war, and undetectable war. Taken together they can create economic war.

If this system is not stopped, it will kill billions due to aluminum and barium poisoning. It will kill billions due to crop failures and world-wide famine. It will cause heart attacks, strokes, and cancers. It will cause stillbirths, miscarriages, and infertility. The chemtrail sprays often have fungi, bacteria, viruses, dessicated red blood cells, crystalline substances, carbon, metal cations, lithium, other chemicals, heavy metals, and God knows what - probably smart dust, or nanocrap. Years of biowarfare testing on the American public is no big secret anymore. Spraying germs in the sky where they mutate due to the ultra-violet light -- brillant plan, my man. Are we acceptable losses or is this by design?

I know that many of the major players have big investments in pharmaceutical companies, GM seeds [seeds that can grow in an electromagnetic soup], weapons and directed energy development contracts, oil contracts, genetic research, and mind control research. Some of these people have had a familial history of financial and policy support for population control, eugenics, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Pinochet, Hussein, and various other dictators. Some of the major players were the masterminds of the death squads in Central and South America. They stand to make a big profit on our death and disease. Just take a look at Rumsfield and Tamiflu.

I assume that they know the dangers of this system and that they take care to stay in their shielded, air-filtered offices, homes, bases, and cars. I assume they take chelating substances to remove the barium and aluminum from their bodies and minds. If not, then they really do not understand the far-ranging implications of this destructive system. Congress may not understand just what a terrible weapons system and control grid they are funding.

As I understand it, Tesla towers attached to deep-earth, free-energy taps are to be created over the 10-12 magnetic poles and the GWEN system phased-out. Has this already been done? This should allow total control of the earth through giant, Tesla death ray-guns. This natural, electromagnetic earth was not meant to be an un-natural dynamo to power man's weapons or his utility companies.

Over-unity systems [Tesla devices]* are as of yet, another unexplored and probably not understood man-made energy. We should be very suspect of free energy.

As we can see, the forms of man-made energy that have been created and used in the past have not been good for this planet. Maybe it is time to reconsider the options available to us through the development of crops for fuel, wind, solar, and water power. We need world-wide, different, more holistic, renewable, energy programs.

Is there any good news? Yes. There has been tons of particulate dumping through the spray operations for 8 years over the Americas, Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and from what I can find out, over Russia.

And, what goes around blows around, right? So, these substances are probably actually global. It sure makes a ton of sense to spray poisonous elements in 24 NATO countries and let the substances be carried around the earth on the jet streams to poison yourself, your enemies, and all neutral and non-combatent countries. Talk about making more enemies.

The water, air, and soil of all of these countries is so saturated with metal cations that these weapons freaks should be able to zap and mind f--k each other quite well now and as often as they wish. Once they have clobbered each other with light-saber beams for a few years and razed and scorched sections of the earth, they may start to realize that this foreign policy will lead to a defective human race and a rotten economy. Do you think they will have knocked some sense into each other by then and will decide that non-proliferation and arms reduction is the more civilized and mature direction to take in world affairs? I doubt it, cause only idiots would have developed horrific, planet-killer weapons like these. But, I'll bet the rest of the planet will finally rise up and tell these juvenile delinquents to quit playing with those rayguns right this second.

After further thought on Bearden + -- a big over-unity and free energy proponent of Tesla technology that makes energy off of boiling the ionosphere or stealing electricity from the mis-named "vacumn" called Life, I have decided that Bearden is telling us some, if not most, of the truth. Same for Eastlund.

Scientists Train Nano-'Building Blocks' to Self Assemble

In the latest issue of the journal Science, there is a report about a novel type of self-assembling polymers that might prove important in medicine.

Researchers from the University of Delaware and Washington University in St. Louis have figured out how to train synthetic polymer molecules to behave--to literally "self-assemble" --and form into long, multicompartment cylinders 1,000 times thinner than a human hair, with potential uses in radiology, signal communication and the delivery of therapeutic drugs in the human body.

The discovery, a fundamental new tool for nanotechnology, is reported in the Aug. 3 issue of the prestigious journal Science.

Darrin Pochan, associate professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Delaware, and Karen Wooley, the James S. McDonnell Distinguished Professor of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, led the research effort, which also involved co-authors Honggang Cui, a recent doctoral graduate, and doctoral student Sheng Zhong at UD, and Zhiyun Chen, a doctoral advisee of Wooley's. The research was supported by a Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team (NIRT) grant from the National Science Foundation.

The focus of the research was block copolymers, which are synthetic molecules that contain two or more chemically different segments bonded together. Block copolymers are used to make a variety of materials such as plastics, rubber soles for shoes, and more recently, portable memory sticks ("flash drives") for computers.

"A block copolymer is a long-chain molecule, a length of which, or block, that is chemically different than the other," Pochan said. "In our case, we took one block that loves water, and another part that does not. So when you put them in solution, the water-hating blocks try to get away from the water, and that's how you get different shapes, called micelles, to form."

The system used by the scientists consisted of a tri-block copolymer composed of polyacrylic acid, polymethylacrylate, and polystyrene introduced into a solution of tetrahydrofuran and water, and organic diamines. The technique relied on divalent organic counter ions and solvent mixtures to drive the organization of the block copolymers down specific pathways into snake-like, one-dimensional structures...

"In the world of self-assembly for nanotechnology, it's challenging to make something other than the shape of a ball," Pochan noted. "If you put little balls full of a drug into the bloodstream, the body's organs and immune system will get rid of them in around a day. But if you place the molecules into long, floppy cylinders, they may stay in the body for weeks," Pochan noted.

Changing the shape of the micelle could carry a drug in the human body for a long period of time, according to Pochan, potentially providing the sustained delivery of chemotherapy from a single injection...

Although the research is far from practical applications, the team's discovery has yielded a new, fundamental "bottom-up" technique for building nanostructures.

"It's all about constructing materials and nanostructures in an easy way," Pochan said. "The goal is to design a molecule with all the rules--all the information it needs--to zip up into the desired shape and size that you want. Then you throw them in the water and see what you get--hopefully the desired, complex nanostructure."

Ironically, Pochan thought he was done working with block copolymers when he was in graduate school years ago.

"I'm now building on stuff I did in grad school in the '90s on rubber and plastics," he said. "However, if you look at block copolymers as a tool for self-assembly, there are many more potential applications than rubber for your boot or plastic coating for your floor," he noted.

"We can use those same molecules, but train them to get something very useful as far as high technology goes," he said. "It's funny how research comes back in style, and we find new uses for 'old tools.'"

Nano-transistor self-assembles using biology

A functional electronic nano-device has been manufactured using biological self-assembly for the first time.

Israeli scientists harnessed the construction capabilities of DNA and the electronic properties of carbon nanotubes to create the self-assembling nano-transistor. The work has been greeted as "outstanding" and "spectacular" by nanotechnology experts.

The push to shrink electronic circuits to ever smaller dimensions is relentless. Carbon nanotubes, which have remarkable electronic properties and only about one nanometre in diameter, have been touted as a highly promising material to help drive miniaturisation. But manufacturing nano-scale transistors has proved both time-consuming and labour-intensive.

The team, at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, overcame these problems with a two step process. First they used proteins to allow carbon nanotubes to bind to specific sites on strands of DNA. They then turned the remainder of the DNA molecule into a conducting wire.

Proof of principle

"DNA is very good at building things in molecular biology, but unfortunately, it does not conduct electricity. We had to get a metal conductor on the DNA," explains physicist Erez Braun, who led the research.

"This is spectacular work," says Cees Dekker, a nanoscience expert at Delft University in the Netherlands. "It demonstrates that it's possible to use biology to build an inorganic device that works."

"But while it is a first step towards molecular computing based on this type of DNA configuration, we are still many years way from large scale self-assembly electronic devices, such as computers," Dekker cautions.

Braun's team began their manufacturing process by coating a central part of a long DNA molecule with proteins from an E. coli bacterium. Next, graphite nanotubes coated with antibodies were added, which bound onto the protein.

After this, a solution of silver ions was added. The ions chemically attach to the phosphate backbone of the DNA, but only where no protein has attached. Aldehyde then reduces the ions to silver metal, forming the foundation of a conducting wire.

To complete the device, gold was added. This nucleates on the silver and creates a fully conducting wire. The end result is a carbon nanotube device connected a both ends by a gold and silver wire.

The device operates as a transistor when a voltage applied across the substrate is varied. This causes the nanotubes to either bridge the gap between the wires - completing the circuit - or not.

Out of 45 nanoscale devices created in three batches, almost a third emerged as self-assembled transistors. They work at room temperature and the only restriction for future devices is that the components must be compatible with the biological reactions and the metal-plating process.

The team have already connected two of the devices together, using the biological technique. "The same process could allow us to create elaborate self-assembling DNA sculptures and circuitry," says Braun.

THE WINE - PEROXIDE TEST

I have no medical expertise and I claim none. I am not offering any medical advice or diagnosis with the presentation of this information. I am acting solely as an independent researcher providing the results of extended observation and analysis of unusual biological conditions that are evident.

The following photographs are not pleasant to view and I would prefer to not have to present them. The magnitude of the issue demands that the information be made available to the general public. A method to remove at least a portion of the pathogenic forms that have been reported extensively on this site has been established. The method involves the use of red wine or a red wine-hydrogen peroxide mixture as an extended rinse for the mouth. Please see additional cautionary notes for the use of hydrogen peroxide within this report. Full and entire credit for the discovery of this method is to be given to Dr. Gwen Scott, N.D. and the public has a call to be grateful for the many unselfish contributions that she has made to the understanding of the "Morgellons" issue (please also see A Natural Medicine Approach on this site).

The use of the term "Morgellons" is a dubious approach as the pathogenic forms first discovered within a purported "Morgellons" subject are showing themselves to exist in equal form within the general public. To date, no human being is excluded from the findings of recent research through this site; hopefully exceptions to this case will soon be found. Thus far, fourteen individuals across numerous state lines have subjected themselves to the test method that is depicted on this paper. All fourteen produce and manifest the same physical forms through the gums of the mouth and only the amount of the material produced varies from individual to individual. The manifestation of skin conditions characteristic of the so-called "Morgellons" condition is not required to produce the result shown.

I state clearly again that the pathogenic forms under investigation are repeatedly showing up in the general population, regardless of whether certain "skin anomalies" are present or not. The pathogenic forms were, however, first discovered as a result of examination of these same skin anomalies. The segregation of only certain individuals as having the "Morgellons" condition is completely and totally false; the general population is involved whether they would like to know of it or not. The pathogens found have now been discovered repeatedly across all major body systems and functions, including skin, blood, hair, saliva, dental(gum), digestive, ear and urinary samples.

Gum-dental samples collected after extended wine-hydrogen peroxide mixture rinses of the mouth (e.g., 5 minutes each) and placed upon a glass slide for observation. Mouth brushed and cleaned to best degree possible prior to the test. Material emanates from the gums of the mouth; this individual produces a greater amount of material relative to other individuals. Foam appearance results from the peroxide. Core material is composed essentially of the four pathogenic forms that have been extensively described on this site(encasing filament, sub-micron filament network, Chlamydia-like structures and the "hybrid form"). Samples have repeatedly observed at extreme visible microscopic examination, i.e.., 7000x and they are generally consistent between various samples. One mixture that is under trial is 1/3 3% hydrogen-peroxide mixed with 2/3 dark red wine (e.g.., merlot). Burgundy color results from stain of red wine. Another alternative under investigation is to limit the exposure to hydrogen peroxide by swabbing the teeth with peroxide prior to an extended rinse with red wine. Hydrogen peroxide is NOT to be taken internally. Sensitivity and reactions to peroxide may be of concern and an issue to consider. NO THERAPY OF ANY KIND IS BEING RECOMMENDED WITHIN THIS REPORT; OBSERVATIONAL ANALYSIS ONLY IS BEING PROVIDED. Identical pathogenic forms have now been found across most body systems and functions. The rinse test has in some cases been ongoing for 1-2 months; there continues to production of some material in most every case. Microscopic examination will be required for any final determination. On occasions, the test has been conducted several times in a row (e.g.., 30-45 minute session of approx. 5 minutes each) with no cessation of material to date, although the amount appears to eventually decrease. It appears that the production of material can be correlated directly with the amount of time devoted to testing. The presence of the material also appears to be associated with a ear-blockage condition in one case. Not all individuals produce this amount of material and the sample may need to be examined very closely to determine if it exists; it usually appears as fibrous or stringy if present. The individual providing this sample does not demonstrate any outwardly visible "Morgellons" symptoms.

Based on the global attack system discussed in "Hit 'Em Where It Hurts," Air Force 2025

You might want to be familiar with “Weather As a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025,” a chapter from the future forecast, Air Force 2025.(1) People concerned about the ongoing, worldwide, aerosol operations in the atmosphere termed chemtrails(2) often point to this chapter as evidence that the U.S. Air Force may be involved in global, spray operations for weather control.

Writers – Izakovic Rolando,(3) Amy Worthington,(4) and Scott Gilbert(5) have explored the evidence in detail. While it is obvious that our weather is being manipulated by these aerosol operations and other atmospheric, military applications are afoot, weather control, while a very bad idea, might be minor compared to what I am going to discuss. And, the concept that the spraying is a way to slow down global warming seems like a big-old, cover story.

Lydia Mancini(6) has explored some of the mind-altering aspects of the chemtrails, but I think I have found one of the final pieces of the chemtrail puzzle – the Air Force studied how to put sensors that are nano-scale into a population’s food supply, water, and air through aerial spraying so that they could get those sensors into people’s bodies. Read on to catch on to all the connections.

Chemtrail activists collect evidence that the chemtrail spray contains not only germs(7) but conductive metals, blood cells,(8) carbon powders, sedatives, nano-particulates, crystalline substances, alumina particulates, barium powders, and a kind of polyethylene-silicon fiber.(9)

Recently, Dr. Hildegarde Staninger,(10) an industrial toxicologist, and Dr. Mike Castle,(11) a polyethylene expert and chemtrail activist, put their heads together to determine whether the nano fibers growing out of the skin of people who have the fiber disease, Morgellons, and the nano fibers from chemtrails have any relationship to each other.

People with Morgellons have different colors of nano fibers growing out of non-healing sores on their bodies. Chemtrail fallout has similar, many-colored fibers that look very much like the Morgellons fibers. These fibers are on you and in your home. You can find them with a fluorescent, black light. Ultraviolet light makes them glow. Use a magnifying glass, too.

A number of fibers and tissue samples collected from Morgellons victims and samples of chemtrail fibers were sent to four of the best labs in our country: AMDL, Inc., ACS, Inc., MIT, and Lambda Solutions, Inc.. Castle and Staninger asked these labs to identify these fibers. What came back from the labs is startling(12) and is discussed in detail in “Rense Morgellons Radio Broadcasts, No. 7 and No. 11.”(13) Dr. Staninger has further determined that Texas chemtrail fibers show a match with chemtrail fibers from Italy.(14)

The chemtrail fibers are a kind of infant, “pre-Morgellons” fiber. The Morgellons fibers are more developed, but the fibers are related to the type of nanotechnology that assembles nanowires. From online radio host and Peabody award winner, Jeff Rense, we learn that Morgellons is:

A communicable (nanotechnology triggered?) invasion of human tissues in the form of self-assembling, self-replicating visible tubes, colored fibers, wires, arrays with what seem to be sensors or ‘antennae’, and other visible configurations, some carrying what may be genetically-altered and spliced DNA/RNA. These (nano-triggered) ‘machines’ thrive in alkaline ph conditions and use the body’s bio-electric energy, its minerals and other unidentified elements for power.

Remember these key terms: “self-replicate, sensors, alkaline, minerals, and bio-electric energy.” There is more from the Rense definition of Morgellons:

There is some evidence suggesting these tiny machines possess their own internal ‘batteries.’ They are also believed to possibly be able to receive specific tuned microwave, EMF and ELF signals and information. . . . It is reported by nearly all afflicted that Morgellons nano machines seem to have some kind of hive or ‘group intelligence.(15)

Can the chemtrail nano fibers breakup to become nano particles? Dr. Staninger seems to think they might.(16) Nano particles can pass through the blood barriers in the lungs, enter the bloodstream, and travel to the brain or other parts of the body. In the online journal “Nature,” Jim Giles had this to say:

Nanoparticles - tiny lumps of matter that could one day to be used to build faster computer circuits and improve drug delivery systems - can travel to the brain after being inhaled, according to researchers from the United States.(17)

Dr. Staninger thinks that these nano particles may be able to self-assemble into full-grown nanowires once they are in the brain or other organs.(18) She says we eat this nanotechnology; it is in our food – the plants and animals. She says it copies the DNA of germs or certain other cells that it is in contact with on the inside of our bodies. It makes more germs, more cancers. One kind of nanowire is implicated in the creation of pseudo-hair and pseudo-skin. One woman with Morgellons has tested positive for the pseudo-hair. These self-replicating proteins even create chimeric forms that look a lot like insects or parasites. Babies are being born with these nano machines in them. This is proof that this nanotechnology can pass through the protective barriers in the body.

Dr. Castle has stated that he believes that at least one to twenty million Americans have these sensors, antennae, wires, and arrays inside of their bodies. Morgellons is spreading at the rate of a 1,000 victims a day. That rate will increase because with each year there will be more and more victims to spread it. People who do not outwardly exhibit Morgellons symptoms can still have the nano disease on the inside of their bodies. It is thought that the ones with the symptoms are the ones whose bodies are rejecting the fibers. No symptoms? Your body might be adjusting to the infestation.(19)

Clifford Carnicom is a man with a background in science: geodetics, math, computer science, and physical science. He worked for 15 year with various agencies — DOD, Forest Service, and The Bureau of Land Management. He studies what many believe to be the chemtrail-induced, rising alkalinity of our planet. He documents the increasing amounts of calcium, magnesium, barium, and potassium in our rainwater.(20) Interestingly, J. Walleczck at the Lawerence Berkeley Laboratory researched in 1991 how calcium ions help to transport electricity across the cell membranes at the molecular level.(21) So, mucking around with the natural, mineral balance and electrical properties of the earth and our bodies is not a good thing.

Carnicom also documents the high levels of salts in our soils due to reactive metal salts from the chemtrails. He says it is these salts that are making the earth more conductive.(22) These chemtrail substances are easily ionized by ultraviolet light and are causing the air to have high levels of positive ions. This is unhealthy for all living beings. He is finding the same blood abnormalities among people with Morgellons and those who do not show any signs of Morgellons.

It would stand to reason that if the earth is being altered to become more conductive and alkaline then we, ourselves, are becoming more conductive and alkaline. The earth and all residents are now a favorable home for this alkaline-loving nanotech which can just keep on using up our bio-electricity to self-replicate and self-generate sensors, antennae arrays, and other mystery, nano machines inside of our bodies.

Which brings us to another part of Air Force 2025, “Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts: Strategic Attack in 2025.” This chapter deserves a more in-depth look because it describes how to implant a population with “stealthy,” track and attack, biological sensors that are “thinner than a human hair” by spraying these machines into the food supply, water, and air or by using human agents to do the deed.(23)

Psychotronic (mind control) technologies are mentioned in this study, but not in much detail because that information is classified. The report explores how the weapons system must be able to access what should be private. We read:

The target acquisition system must provide decision makers the capability to detect changes in the personal values of an adversary. Changes in a leader’s emotions, thoughts, or frame of reference are of interest to the strategic attack system. Techniques that get into the ‘head’ of an adversary to obtain valuable information require revolutionary advances. Finding plausible methods for accomplishing this task is the focus of the classified ‘Information Attack’ white paper.(24)

The Air Force would only classify a weapon that can read your thoughts, emotions, and intentions if our country already had this weapon in 1995 or intended to possibly develop it. The sprayed bio-implants and other spy devices are describe below:

Ground-based platforms in 2025 rely heavily on micromechanics and nanotechnology to shrink platforms to microscopic sizes. These platforms could be inserted via human agents, through water or food supplies, or through aerial seeding operations using UAVs. Microsensors thinner than human hairs could transmit data to the Delphi database via UAV or satellite relay. A swarm of ground-based microsensors could ensure constant data transmission of local conditions and activity levels near and inside an LOV.(25)

An LOV stands for “Locus of Values.” An LOV can be a hard target: something physical, or an LOV can be a soft target. “The LOV is that which an adversary holds dear . . . . Soft LOVs are intangible things: Systems, knowledge, or ways of thinking.”(26) A UAV is a unmanned aerial vehicle.

In the document, all the sensors are called “unattended ground sensors,” even the bio–implants. In one of the graphics, arrows very blatantly point to unattended ground sensors that are located in the crotch areas of a couple of men.(27) In another graphic, the arrows point to sensors in a man’s shoulder and his wrist. When I read this, my mind flashed on Denzel Washington digging a microchip out of his shoulder in the movie, The Manchurian Candidate. Besides the bio-implants, The Air Force study discusses dropping “grain-sized” sensors from the air to form a surveillance network on the ground, and microsensors can be surreptiously put into homes or appliances.

Micromachining of sound sensors has improved since Air Force 2025 was written. In 2003, the military revealed that they had a sensor network that could be dropped from the air:

In tests, it has dropped tubes containing 10 to 20 sensors from an airplane. Once they hit the ground, the tubes explode, sending the sensors flying. Then they establish connections among themselves and monitor enemy vehicle or troop movements, sending the data wirelessly to planes overhead.(28)

It is now five years later and the sensors in a network like this are about the size of a deck of playing cards. Sensors that are not classified, that is.

Smart dust is not a sound sensor, but it is very small; it is particle size. Smart dust particles are about the width of a human hair. It can be chemically programed to target a specific substance and to self-assemble or stick to it. It changes color to indicate that it has found the targeted substance. It can be used for almost, microscopic tags placed in items or stuck to the clothing of people.(29) Mike Blair and other chemtrail-aware people have noticed that chemtrail fibers often display barbs on their surfaces.(30) In “Hit ’Em Where It Hurts,” we read:

Like prickly cockleburs, tiny sensors would cling to certain humans, effectively tagging them for continuous tracking via overhead platforms.(31)

Domestic security companies may soon be using state of the art ground sensors that can sniff a molecule out of the air and can taste and identify a molecule – “nano–noses” and “nano–tongues.”(32) These can be handy for sniffing cocaine or marijuana molecules wafting of folks as they return home or enter buildings. Nano-noses and nano-tongues can be scanned by light or energy and will change color just like the ground sensors from 2025: “When irradiated by ultraviolet or X-ray energy, these organic changes can be scanned and analyzed by overhead sensors.”(33)

Experts are working on trying to develop sensors that can identify and track people by their unique, personal odor.(34) The authors of “Hit ’Em Where It Hurts” would like sensors to become small enough in the future to be able to send them to you through the mail(35) and use “hordes” of acoustic sensors for extrapolating pictures of structures through seismic mapping in conjunction with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).(36)

. . . the importance of visual sensors may decrease in 2025 as the strategic attack process relies more on nonlethal methods of attack. In this case, non-traditional sensors that can hear, smell, or taste become essential by providing important bits of data . . . to piece together the effectiveness of an attack.(37)

How could the Air Force “Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts”?

A standoff system loitering along . . . at 50,000 feet can stare 230 miles downrange at an LOV and provide continuous one meter resolution. . . . In addition, a low observable UAV that loiters directly over a specific area will carry sensors that provide continuous one centimeter resolution.(38

These UAVs are the link in the chain that connects to transatmospheric jets, space platforms, and satellites. These space-based assets would send and receive to and from super computers that are located in relay stations on the ground or in orbit. A new satellite radar called MIRIAH(39) can see through most buildings, at night, and in any weather returning a 3-D, any angle, close to real-time image. UAVs can look like dragonflies,(40) birds,(41) helicopters,(42) planes,(43) or even cubes.(44) Activists in Washington, D.C. recently spotted dragonfly UAVs surveilling a protest. They can be powered by hydrogen,(45) solar,(46) fuel-cell, batteries, or a combination thereof.(47) They can hang on an electric line to recharge(48) or be powered up by wi-fi microwave.(49) They can see you, but they can also transmit data. There is even technology that can cloak them so that you, satellites, or radar can not see them.(50)

As a more economical model, space mirrors can be used to bounce data from UAVs to ground stations.(51) A plasma mirror can also be created by a microwave heater beam station that heats the atmosphere, and this plasma area can be used just like a mirror. A Dr. Eastlund pioneered this technology. His work with the HAARP ionospheric heater was sponsored by ARCO, a major aluminum producer which is owned by British Petroleum.(52) Oddly, chemtrails have a lot of aluminum particulates.

The weapons system uses information from: Delphi databases compiled from government records and open sources; human intel on the ground (humint); real-time data from bio-implants and scattered, ground-sensor grids; visuals from sensors on satellites, jets, and UAVs; and archives on history and culture. It uses compilations of psychological beliefs, information on current and international events, knowledge from experts in their fields, past experiences in associated problem solving, and it is a system that can learn. It can “game” scenarios until it presents what it considers the best solution to a human operator and is a computer network that is widely scattered around the world, up-to-date, and “redundant.”(53)

The human operator may choose to “immediately engage or never engage,” or to use “direct or indirect tactics.”(54) He would determine whether to deploy “laser, radio frequency, or energetic particle beam” weapons against targeted people, physical objects, factories, cities, or militaries.(55) These directed energy weapons can be deployed from space, land, or sea from a variety of platforms or bounced by the previously mentioned space or plasma mirrors. Nanotechnology will allow the creation of smaller weapons for use on UAVs.(56) Directed energy weapons “. . . can be ‘tuned’ for a wider range of effects, from low-order intervention to high-order destruction.” And, they are “cost-effective.” How nice.(57)

Futuristic engagement systems and techniques such as holographic projection, noise and gravity fields, biomedical operations, psychological operations, military deception, and information attack are all possible. These innovative indirect means are discussed in the classified C2 and Information Attack white papers. As a complement to those indirect techniques, this paper focuses on target engagements that use direct attacks with lethal and nonlethal power.(58)

Did you catch that? What do they mean by “biomedical operations,” “holographic projection,” “noise and gravity fields,” or some of the other terms? These terms have to do with classified information about “getting into the head” of a person, and command and control (C2). Modern attacks on C2 degrades the enemy’s ability to make the best decisions and makes them change their decision without them realizing that they were ever manipulated.(59)

There is a saying: life mirrors art. Let’s go back to the original chapter we discussed. If the aerosol operations described in “Weather As a Force Multiplier” are just sci-fi, military daydreaming, then why are there charts within that document than can only be described as spray schedules? These charts tell the reader exactly which substances will be sprayed and during which years.

For instance, sensors along with smart dust (nanotechnology) will be sprayed in the skies from the time of the study, 1995, and will increase sharply until 2025.(60)

Did you know that nanowire arrays will soon be used in medicine to power larger biological implants? Like pacemakers . . . or maybe nano devices in the brain?(61,62) You will notice how the technology discussed in “Weather As a Force Multiplier” segues nicely with the technology discussed in “Hit ’Em Where It Hurts.”

A weapon like this can be used for covert war and the micro-management of a population. A nonlethal weapon trained upon a person all the time becomes a lethal weapon. But, we can trust men who think it is no big deal to sneak electromagnetic implants into other people’s privates, right?

The lack of respect for inalienable rights that is displayed by the Air Force officers who wrote this report is shocking. Hitler would have wet dreams about this death-squad technology. Weapons like these will always be abused by someone. That is why the weapons should not even exist.

Someone will say: ”Well, it is only to be used against The Enemy.” How do you spray only one house? How do you spray only one air supply? Shouldn’t there be some kind of ban on turning people into Borgs? It is against treaties for the military to alter the environment. Some Air Force guys happen to think that putting sensors into non-combatants and enemies alike via their food, water, and air is just dandy. Coincidentally, that scenario sure sounds like the chemtrail/Morgellons nanotechnology epidemic ripping through American bodies right now.

I am just not sure I want to give the Air Force my love.

Getting Nanoparticles into the Brain

By linking small molecules related to the body’s natural pain killers to a biodegradable polymer, investigators at the University of Modena in Italy have developed nanoparticles capable of crossing into the brain. These polymer nanoparticles could be used to deliver imaging agents and anticancer drugs to brain tumors.

Reporting its work in the Journal of Controlled Release, a team led by Maria Angela Vandelli, Ph.D., created nanoparticles capable of crossing the normally impenetrable blood-brain barrier by turning to molecules called opioid peptides that the body uses as its own natural painkiller. These molecules, which are short pieces of protein, bind to specific receptors on the cells that makeup the blood-brain barrier. The receptors then pull these molecules across the barrier and into the brain’s blood system.

The investigators prepared five different versions of these opioid peptides and linked each on to the polymer poly (D,L-lactide-co-glycoside), or PLGA, a biodegradable material that many investigators have found forms biocompatible nanoparticles capable of carrying drugs and imaging agents within the body. The researchers also attached a fluorescent molecule to the polymer so that they could track the resulting nanoparticles as they circulated in mice.

Using fluorescence microscopy to track the nanoparticles, the investigators showed first that polymer nanoparticles without attached opioid peptides failed to cross the blood-brain barrier. Each of the five different nanoparticles containing the peptides crossed readily into the brain. The investigators also showed that the blood-brain barriers were not damaged in any way by the nanoparticles.

Researchers are developing tiny, airborne devices that can look and listen as they float

If Kristofer Pister has his way, we will never think about dust in quite the same way again.

Pister is leading a team of researchers at the University of California at Berkeley that is developing tiny, electronic devices called "smart dust," designed to capture mountains of information about their surroundings while literally floating on air.

If the project is successful, clouds of smart dust could one day be used in an astonishing array of applications, from following enemy troop movements and hunting Scud missiles to detecting toxic chemicals in the environment and monitoring weather patterns around the globe.

The idea behind smart dust is to pack sophisticated sensors, tiny computers and wireless communicators onto minuscule "motes" of silicon light enough to remain suspended in air for hours at a time. As the motes drift on the wind, they can monitor the environment for light, sound, temperature, chemical composition and a wide range of other information, and beam that data back to a base station miles away.

Pister, an associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley, said he came up with the idea for smart dust eight years ago at a conference on future technology. "I realized that sensors, computers and communications were going to shrink down to ridiculously small sizes," he said. "So why not package them into a single, tiny device?"

Pister submitted a proposal to the federal Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a branch of the Defense Department, which agreed to provide about $1.2 million over three years to fund the project.

Each mote of smart dust is composed of a number of microelectromechanical systems, or MEMS, wired together to form a simple computer.

MEMS are made using the same photolithographic techniques used to make computer chips. Once perfected, they are relatively easy and inexpensive to mass-produce. But unlike computer chips, which are solid, MEMS contain moving parts. Patterns are etched with light into a silicon wafer to create structures such as optical mirrors or tiny engines.

Each mote contains a solar cell to generate power, sensors that can be programmed to look for specific information, a tiny computer that can store the information and sort out which data is worth reporting, and a communicator that enables the mote to be "interrogated" by the base unit. Later versions may also contain a lilliputian lithium battery so the motes can operate at night.

While much of the technology used to develop smart dust already exists, the UC researchers are breaking new ground by integrating these systems into remarkably small, self-powered packages.

Pushing the Limits

"We are pushing the limits of miniaturization, integration and power management," said Brett Warneke, a graduate student in electrical engineering working on the project.

In one experiment to demonstrate the viability of the concept, researchers deployed a golf ball-sized device on Twin Peaks in San Francisco that measured weather conditions in the area - temperature, light, barometric pressure and humidity - and beamed that information back to a base station in Berkeley, more than 13 miles away.

So far, the smallest device the UC researchers have developed is 62 cubic millimeters - about the size of a pea - but Pister expects to shrink the devices to a nearly microscopic cubic millimeter by next summer. At that scale,

they would be truly like dust: small enough to remain suspended in air, buoyed by the currents, sensing and communicating for hours.

One of the biggest hurdles the UC researchers face is building a mechanism that can survive on extremely low power but is still capable of sensing, sorting and sending vast amounts of information. For that reason, they have designed a computer operating system called Tiny OS that can function on a mere 512 bytes of RAM - about the amount of processing power found in a toaster.

The UC researchers are also experimenting with an ingenious optical communicator called a corner-cube reflector, which enables the motes to communicate while expending virtually no energy.

Pioneered at the University of California at Los Angeles, the reflector is essentially a tiny, hinged mirror that can flash millions of Morse code-like signals per second. When a smart mote is illuminated by a laser fired from the base station, the station can "read" the code reflected in the twitching mirror. The mirror itself is powered by electrostatic energy, the force that makes your socks cling together when they come out of the dryer.

Smart dust devices are now capable of communicating only with a single base station, but will eventually be able to share information with each other. Such a system of "massively distributed intelligence" will vastly increase their ability to organize and communicate information.

"They will be able to do things collectively that they can't do individually, just like an ant colony," Warneke said. "An individual ant isn't very smart, but collectively, they are very smart."

Researchers are exploring a number of methods for deploying smart dust. One involves the use of tiny, unmanned aircraft that would spray motes over an area like a miniature crop duster and relay the resulting information back to a base station. MLB Co., a Palo Alto firm that develops experimental aircraft, has already built such a plane - an 8-inch radio-controlled aircraft equipped with a video camera that can stay aloft for 18 minutes at a speed of 60 mph.

MLB's "micro air vehicle" could be useful in a battlefield situation where low clouds impeded satellite surveillance. The tiny, unmanned plane could soar undetected above the battlefield, disperse a swarm of smart dust and begin relaying a stream of data about the movement of enemy troops and equipment.

The UC researchers are also exploring ways to prolong the time smart dust remains airborne by adding "wings" like those on maple seeds. A cubic- millimeter-sized mote dropped at 30,000 feet would normally take five hours to reach the ground. By attaching wings, the researchers hope to extend that period two- or three-fold.

Other researchers are attaching tiny legs to the motes to create so-called microbots or smart insects. Instead of wafting aimlessly through the air like dust, microbots could be programmed to perform specific tasks, such as crawling through a collapsed building to search for warm bodies.

"Smart dust is like the brain, and we're building the body," said Richard Yeh, a graduate student researcher specializing in microrobotics who is working on the smart dust project.

Yeh and his colleagues have already developed the basic components of a smart insect - tiny, jointed members, which function as legs, and minuscule motors, the equivalent of muscles. All that remains is to connect the components to a mote of smart dust, a step Yeh expects to accomplish within weeks.

Although the smart dust research is supported by the Defense Department, its proponents see many nonmilitary applications for it, many for motes that would stay in one place.

Crunchless Cap'n Crunch

They could be used to detect fires and earthquakes, tailor the climate in office buildings to suit the preferences of individual workers, and monitor product quality from factory to consumer (a mote of smart dust could tell, for example, if a box of Cap'n Crunch had been exposed to high humidity, and lost its crunch, or if a crate filled with delicate electronic components had been dropped).

Like many other new technologies, smart dust clearly has the potential to be used for nefarious purposes. Foreign governments (or our own), terrorist organizations, criminals and industrial spies could use high-tech motes to spy.

"This is a technology of total surveillance," said Richard Sclove, founder of the Loka Institute, a nonprofit organization in Amherst, Mass., that studies the social implications of technology.

"I have no doubt that there will be plenty of benign and wonderful applications of this technology, but it's easier to imagine the lousy ones. The CIA and the National Security Administration would love to get their hands on this, and there's no way to control what they do with it."

While Pister acknowledges the possibility that smart dust could be misused, he says the potential benefits of the technology "far, far outweigh" any risks.

"You can find harmful effects in everything," added Yeh. "But the threat is small. If a rogue state wanted to use them to spy on us, they could do it, but not much more. They probably couldn't carry enough poison or gas to do much damage."

The specter of millions, or even billions, of electronic motes drifting around the globe has also raised concerns about the potential ill effects on the environment and health.

But Pister dismissed such concerns. "Even in my wildest imagination, I don't think we'll ever produce enough smart dust to bother anyone," he said. "Most of these materials are not environmentally harmful. Essentially they are made out of sand, and that's not toxic."

Potentially, the most dangerous element of a smart dust mote would be the lithium battery, Pister says, but its minuscule size would pose little risk.

"A small town throws away more batteries per year than we can distribute across the entire universe," he said. "It's really a question of trade-offs. If you can sprinkle a few ounces of battery over a rain forest and thereby get a better understanding of the ecology, that's a trade-off worth making."

And what if someone accidentally inhaled a mote of smart dust? "If by ill chance you did inhale one, it would be like inhaling a gnat. You'd cough it up post-haste. Unpleasant, but not very likely."
