Back In the Real World, A Harsh Reality Awaits

Iran Manufactures Laser Defense Warning System

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran once again displayed another of its first time productions in the military sector, and this time it is a laser defense warning system entirely designed and produced by Iranian experts at the army's industrial university.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said in a ceremony to celebrate completion of the production process that the system rockets defensive capabilities of the armed forces, particularly in asymmetric battles.

"Development of hi-tech with military applications on the basis of efficient, modern domestic patterns and in accordance with national and regional requirements sets the main strategy of the defense ministry," he said, stressing that all the astonishing successes of the defense industries in the design and production of defensive equipment and instruments are a product of the experiences gained during the years of sacred defense (i.e. 8 years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran from 1980 to 1988).

The General stated that the highly advanced laser defense warning system produced by the professors and researchers of the Defense Ministry's Malik-e Ashtar Industrial University empowers Iranian military forces to jam and divert various types of laser-guided missiles, bombs, rockets or shells.

Iran has lately displayed a large portion of its domestic products in the military domain, specially during the recent local maneuvers.

Among the various types of missiles, planes, PT boats, corvettes, Cannons, Shells and the likes, reference can be made to 'Joshan', a highly advanced PT boat, and 'Fajr' a cannon with a highly sophisticated technology making Iran one of only three countries - with the US and Italy being the first and the second respectively - owning the weapon.

The Iran-made PT boat named 'Joshan' joined Iranian navy Wednesday morning in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The vessel which enjoys unique capabilities is one of the best PT boats of the world navies.

Iran, which is among the world's few countries owning the technology, started design and manufacture of PT boats and corvettes in 2003, and it succeeded in building the first one of these military vessels 18 months later.

'Joshan' enjoys the world's latest technology, specially with regard to its military, electrical and electronic systems, frame and chassis, and it has the capabilities required for launching powerful missiles.

Similar to Iran's first PT boat 'Peykan', 'Joshan' also has a speed of over 45 sea knots which makes it even faster than the same generation of PT boats manufactured by other countries. The vessel is capable of hosting various types of missiles and rockets with a range beyond 100km, high maneuverability power that helps it to escape torpedoes, and enjoys the most advanced sea cannon of the world called 'Fajr'."

Meanwhile, Iran's navy commander Admiral Kouchaki has recently stated that there are still more Iranian made PT boats and destroyers to come to public eyes.

Iranian navy also started using the most advanced home-made sea cannon just a few days ago.

The cannon called 'Fajr' comprises 25 thousand parts manufactured through partnership of over 100 Iranian companies and academic elites.

The 76mm-caliber cannon enjoys a wide variety of military capabilities and can hit sea and air targets within the range of 19 km or 23 thousand feet in distance, respectively.
