More Saddamned Lies . . .

On Friday the Pentagon displayed yet again its utter contempt for the American people and the international community at large with its release of "Iraqi Perspectives Project: Operation Iraqi Freedom from Saddam's Senior Leadership," a 230 page scrapbook of lies, misinformation and revisionist history that is perhaps the best piece of government deception since the 9/11 Commission Report (discussed by Dr. David Ray Griffin here and further dismantled here) . To go through every lie and absurdity in this tome would dwarf even the work itself, so we'll have to go through an abbreviated tour, albeit with the appropriate references.

Starting immediately in its Introduction, it rewrites history, noting:

In fact, Iraq's national history is littered with military coup attempts with one following another in dreary progression. Even Saddam's Ba'ath Party saw its first try at seizing power in the early 1960's collapse under the hammer blow of a military coup that overthrew the first efforts of the Ba'ath Party in accordance with its ideology." (pdf page 11, p. vii report)
But this conveniently ignores the United States role in this "dreary progression" of coup attempts. In fact, Saddam has been a CIA asset as far back as 1959 where he was part of a CIA sponsored six man squad assigned to assassinate the Prime Minister Prime Minister Gen. Abd al-Karim Qasim. But after Saddam apparently messed up the assassination attempt he was transfered to Beirut then Cairo and trained by the CIA. He would then be brought back with the aid of the CIA in 1963 where it would stage another coup, this one successful. The young Ba'ath Party would then hunt down all of the communists provided to then on a list by the CIA, then executed them. Yet the government would quickly collapse and Saddam would then be imprisoned, but would escape from jail in 1967. And after two more CIA supported Ba'ath Party coups, the United States would help install Saddam's uncle, General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, to the presidency, and Saddam would be named Vice President. So from the start, Saddam was a US groomed, maintained and protected asset. It is simply hyperbolic, self serving gibberish to describe Saddam as:

". . . not just a product of a violent era, he was a master of it. In an environment of violence, Saddam rose to the pinnacle of power because he was the most determined of the lot. His atrocities differ from those of Hitler and Stalin only in scale, not intent." (pdf p. 19, rep. p 1)
Then this fictitious little manual goes on to describe how Saddam made "liberal use of methods developed and refined by the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany to quash internal dissent, Saddam rapidly consolidated the Ba'ath party's grip on power. Spies and informers became omnipresent and Iraq truly became what Kana Makiya called a 'Republic of Fear.'" (pdf p. 21, rep. p. 3) Yet this misinformation fails to mention that it was not Russians or Germans who taught him these techniques, but rather Americans, as Americans would teach these techniques to many of the strongmen of the Third World to crush internal opposition that would include among other things, psychological warfare as weapons against their own citizens.

And then we proceed to the pablum: "Externally, Iraq's enemies were generally of his own making, real and imagined. Iran became an implacable foe when Saddam launched his Army against it only eight months after seizing power" (pdf p. 23, rep p. 5) But conveniently omits the fact that the US was horrified that its longtime ally the Shah had been deposed from Iran, went against the advice of Israel to arm Saddam Hussein (for which Israel would heighten tensions by bombing Iraqi nuclear facilities and secretly arm the Iranians), and National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brezinski would encourage Saddam Hussein to attack Iran. Saddam, ever the compliant US vassal, complied.

And what would the reward from this compliance be? A new chemical and biological weapons capacity at the urging of present Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. In fact, shortly after meetings with Don, Saddam would start actually using chemical weapons against the Iranians, while Donald was pushing for normalized relations between the US and Iraq. Yet it would be incorrect to blame simply Rumsfeld on the matter. Iraq would be a treasure trove of money for American and European corporations cashing in on weapons sales. Yet the military revisionism history would have you believe that Saddam was a raving madman who "lost touch with reality during the 90's and has taken on an 'unrealistic outlook.'" (pdf p 28, rep p. 10) Yet despite the apparent madness of King Saddam that would not stop American corporations to continue to arm the regime in the same decade of the 90's.

Yet it was after the Iraq-Iran war nearly backrupted Iraq, did they then look to the oil markets to give them revenue to rebuilt. But when Kuwait was overproducing beyond its OPEC quota that meant less Iraqi oil revenue. Of course, Saddam, ever the willing US client asked whether a Kuwait invasion would be tolerated by his American masters/minders. In the now famous declaration from then-US envoy April Gillespie, she replied, "we should express no opinion on this issue and that the issue is not associated with America. James Baker has directed our official spokesman to emphasize this instruction." Yet the misinformation piece boldly declares that "Saddam made it clear that he was seeking a direct confrontation with the United States in the near future." (pdf p 24., rep p. 6). Yet it was the US that thought that war with Iraq was inevitable. Saddam, on the other hand, realizing again that he was "caught" in George Bush's trap, wanted to negotiate a withdrawal.

A decade and a half later, Saddam would find himself in the same position: namely, of being in the imperial designs of the United States. In perhaps one of the few truthful assessments in this document, the document states: ". . . Saddam avoided taking actions in the year after September 11th terrorist attacks in the United Staets that would appear obstructionist or threatening. In late 2002, he told a group of officers that Iraq would provide UN inspectors with the access they needed, thus denying President George W. Bush and the Americans any excuse for starting a new conflict." (pdf p. 47, rep p. 29) (also corroborated in media here). Yet little did he know that once again, the trap had already been sprung. During the summer of 2001, Dick Cheney had convened his Energy Task Force, a meeting of the largest petrolium companies in the United States, where they already began to map out how to dissect the Iraqi oil wealth, replete with further charts of foreign companies that would be approached (chart 1, chart 2) .

But of course the Pentagon wants to depict him as the Saladin of the Middle East, who "In the final months, Saddam's confidence in ultimate victory grew." (pdf p 48, rep p. 30) Once again reality contradicts this assessment, as on the eve of bombing and earlier, Saddam was trying to negotiate a peace with the Arab League to prevent invasion.

In short, the document is a souvenir of how distainful the nation's leaders is of its citizens, and why its citizens are woefully out of touch with the rest of the world's opinion of it, and out of touch with reality. This government is actively lying, to hide its own role in the chaos it has created. And despite the effort to depict Saddam an a lunatic, sadly he seems more prescient than the aptly named Vice President Dick Cheney who claimed that "We will, in fact, be greeted as liberators" when he noted that "Iraq will not, in any way, be like Afghanistan. We will not let the war become a picnic for the American or the British soldiers. No way!" (pdf p. 48, rep p. 30)

Sadly it is American soldiers, Iraqi men, women and children, and the reputation of the United States that have all suffered irreparable harm as the result of the lies and missteps of this criminal government.

Weazle, long time no see. lemme see hear now, you claim Bush is a crook and a liar and all the rethug faithful are pissed at you because of it.

Donut misses you man, that's all. She needs to have people she thinks she's better than in attendance or she can't function.

Shit man 112 billion barrels of Iraqi Crude Oil and 200 billion barrrels of Caspian Basin crude oil worth $20,904, 000,000,000 (tweny trillion nine hunert an four billion dollars [US]) gross crude oil revenue didn't have a damned thing to do with invading Afghanistan and Iraq.

Iran's intention to sell oil for Eurodollars beginning March 20, 2006, like dumass Saddam did has nothing to do with Bush's planned invasion of Iran either. Venezuela will join the oil for euro's parade just as fast as he can, you watch.

Whorowitz a shill? A reformed lefty wrong? Hell man, David is today's Academia Savior. Just listen to him.

Davey "Whore, no-wits" knows he can't win. That's why when weazl announces that he has a new website to counter the lies of the propaganda pulpit and misinformation medium, he immediately purges all of weazl's posts and removes access from the site. Weazl has long won the idealogical battle and now moves in for the kill: to peel away the myrmidons from their brain-corrosive, hate machine towards the light. And yes, they may scream and curse a bit, but it's a just the discomfort of having swallowed the red pill. But weazl isn't the only one whose voice is drowned out by that "shill". Davey gets on tv and calls everybody a Commie and tries to drown out their voices, so what else is new?

http://mediamatters.org/items

Weazl is proud to be a persona non grata, especially as the FPMers come here. Yes, weazl's readers better learn to handle foul language, especially when the FPMers show up. But such is the price of free speech and free exchange of ideas. And weazl believes in these things, not just when he talks to the converted, but when the unconverted scream back and talk about weazl's dad, weazl's stupidity, and weazl's naivete.

But when you return to the den of wolves, keep spreading the word. And keep stopping by.

And yes, they did it for the oil. ;-D

Dear Weasel: I was going to open this missive with a castigation of your purile, misguided, and wrong headed view of history, but the entry by the Anonymous Drowner, just to our left, caught my attention.

Dear Anonymous Misogynist:

It pleases me no end to see that you have found the number keys on your keyboard. But what the f--k is all that supposed to prove?

What I get is that you are implying that we don't really believe that Iran has nuclear facilities? We don't really believe that Islaam is engaged in a war of global proportions? We don't really believe that 1400 years of bloddy Muslim aggression ever occurred? We don't really believe that Europe is about to be taken over by Islaam. We don't really want to try to disarm these prehistoric madmen. This, according to you, is all about Oil! Is that right?

(Boy, oh, boy, Weasel you got to get better America Haters on your staff! This dumb f--ck can't even cut and paste a good argument.)

For your information: We only get, although it is a huge amount in terms of barrels, 18% of our oil from the Middle East. And the Oil we do buy, regardless of where we buy it, is purchased on the open oil market.

The only countries that have been able to get discounted oil under the table because of international disturbances were the weasels who refused to help us invade Iraq: France, Germany, Russia, and China. They got their oil at the cost of starving Iraqis by grafting the Oil For Food Program. All the while they, and geeks like you, were clicking their fat tongues and bemoaning the iniqities of the United States "invading for oil".

It is not all about oil. Find another complaint. How about opining that, "the United States is trying to conquer the world with economic aggression". I love that argument.
By the way, what kind of President was Reagan?

With very low regards,

Now for you! Your myopia could only be a product of pernicious Marxist infection.

Of course we set up puppet governments. Certainly we asassinate people. Yes we manipulate the course of history. If you had read even one good history book, you would know that is the way it is done on this planet...Always has been done that way.
Now come on, you're pulling the old doc's leg...Right. You can tell me. Lets be honest with each other. You know perfectly well that your mentor and godhead, the Soviet, was 50 times worse...Right you know that. You know that every single major(and probably minor) government since things were written in cuneform have done it that way? Right?

You think that the clever thing to do is to pretend that the true vision of government is one run by Sheri Lewis and Lamb Chop...Sort of a nicey-nicey pre-school. Then we capatitalists are supposed to roll over weeping with guilt and give the whole thing to the Communists to do their foul work with? Right? I got it now don't I?
See, just because doc is stunningly handsome doesn't mean he's dumb!

But the only people who buy that sugar-coated line of crap are the cowardly little bunny rabbit people. The terrified, neurotic, homosexual, drug ridden, under educated, the confused, the criminal. The poor little crushed egos who have been terrified by their daddies and need to strike out at authority in order to get it up.

THE NEXT TIME YOU GO TO A DEMONSTRATION, LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PEOPLE. LOOK AT THE LACK OF SELF ESTEEM, THE SELF DEPRICATORY ATTIRE,THE TIMID DOWN CAST OF EYE, THE FEARFULNESS, THE RAGE. THESE ARE THE LOSERS THAT WANT TO TAKE THE COUNTRY DOWN WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER RISE UP TO A CONFIDENT HAPPY LIFE. YOU ARE THE ENEMY

(doc had too much DMD today, but he's right, none-the-less)

The only good thing that Liberals espouse is abortion. So far they have killed 45 million of their own children.

What kind of President was Reagan?
Well he, at least, knew how to act like a President. Very good at reading the lines the Council on Foriegn Relations handed him.
Great conservative talking liberal spendthrift.

Iran's nuclear capabilities: Clinton sold US Nuclear technology to China for campaign cash and China buys 13% of it's oil from Iran along with $200 billion in Natural gas as soon as China gets the liquification plant completed in Iran. Anytime China wants Iran to have US nuclear technology all they need to do is give it to them along with all the Australian Tobernite Iran needs to process yellowcake from. China has bid yellowcake up to $40.50 per lb as of last Sunday, up from $7 per lb a year ago and has most all of northern Australia under mining contract with Chinese labor. China is also a big buyer of Candadian Tobernite Dr knowitall.

Look DrDummass the world at large is tired of a devaluing US Dollar.
Inflation is the hidden Imperial tax the Empire exacts from all the world by pumping up the money supply with worthless paper. 16% in 4th Qtr 2005 qnd 10% so far in 2006 or hadn't you noticed gasoline has gone up more than 20% this year.

Afghanistan's Taliban were in contract with American Oil to build a pipeline across Afghanistan and backed out for Russian help. Sept 11 happened and we invaded.

Saddam tried to sell his oil for eurodollars and got his ass invaded.

The CIA created Osama binladen and Saddam Hussien both dipwad.

Now go on back to your dog bath deflea practice, finish getting your veterinarian's liscense and treat ascaris infestation for lonley little old ladies who love Despaerate Housewives and All My Children.

What a fuckin Drdouce bag, Teddy shoulda let YOU drown

Ya know Weaz, rubber is sold on the London Metal Exchange. In 1939 the US gave Ho Chi Mihn weapons to fight the Japanese and after the Japanese had been defeated the US armed France to retake their rubber colony. France later succumbed to Din Bin Phlu and Eisenhower had to put up with Congress on the campaign cash take from Michlelin Rubber. Who was the world's tire buyers at the end of WWII? The US mainly. Europe hadn't quite yet begun it's love affair with the automoblie and the US was trying to produce [Gayule (sp)]Rubber out in John Wayne country. Putting Vietnam out of the rubber (competition) business was just hedging our bet.

Shell Oil reported to Nixon in 1968 that there was no recoverable OIL in Vietnam and Tricky Dick announced "Vietnamization" a year and a half later. The withdrawal coincided with Reelect Tricky Dick, He's bringing home the boys from Vietnam. Nixon's Peace With Honor was honoring Shell's oil exploration budget limits.

Dr.fleabath, all crude oil is sold on the New york Metal Exchange or the London International Petroleum Exchange. Both US owned. England refused to accept the Euro Currency and fully join the European Union. Hmmm. Iran's own Oil Bourse (exchange) will devalue the US Dollar and take business away from NYMEX and LIPE.

Russia produces 1/3 of all industrial grade diamonds, and has since industrail grade diamonds became marketable. Russia turns all diamonds over to the DeBeers Cartel to market for Russia on consignment, and has done since Russian Diamond mining was modernized around 1917.

But I'm glad toi hear you're a faithful Bush Rethugnican.

Hey Dr,dummass 1.5 Trillion-3 Trillion barrels of oil in eastern Utah and western Colorado. 1/3 is crude oil and 2/3 is tar sands. Wells are drilled and capped. another huge oil find was made in Richfield, Utah a few years back and test wells haven't determined yet how BIG it is.

Two Trillion dollars worth of high grade nonpolluting coal Electrical generating grade) in the karpowitz Plateau Clinton made sure can't be extracted and we must buy the same coal from China. What the hell is your hero Bush doing about it?

My Honorable Discharge from the US Army calls you a liar when you call me an America hater.

I lover America enough to listen to all opinions, search for the truth and accept the truth even if Weazel is telling it. Which he is good at.

Where is the wreckage from a Boeing 757 at the Pentagon? Where is any wreckage from a Boeing 757 at the Pentagon?
A Boeing 767-200 did hit tower two, I'll give that. The compresor from Tower one is NOT a CFM 56 Engine compressor, the engines used on the Boeing 767-200 passenger airliner.

Good to know. Nice comments. Unfortunately, can't disagree on much though. Agree with the monetary policy discussion (hence the metals position), agree on the market slide (self explanatory), and took a position on energy because of peak oil and Iran. So what's there to disagree on? Let me know. ;-)
