A cluster of controversial subjects

Dark Side of the Moon is a French documentary by director William Karel which …originally aired on Arte in 2002 with the title Operation Lune. The basic premise for the film is the theory that the television footage from the Apollo 11 Moon landing was faked and actually recorded in a studio by the CIA with help from director Stanley Kubrick. It features some surprising guest appearances, most notably by Donald Rumsfeld, Dr. Henry Kissinger, Alexander Haig, Buzz Aldrin and Stanley Kubrick’s widow, Christiane Kubrick. The tone of the documentary begins with low key revelations of NASA working closely with Hollywood at the time of the Moon landings. Over the course of the tale, Karel postulates that not only did Kubrick help the USA fake the moon landings but that he was eventually killed by the CIA to cover up the truth. First hand testimony backing these claims come from Rumsfeld and Dr. Kissinger, which lend credence to the story.

FOX NEWS: DID WE LAND ON THE MOON?

On Thursday, February 15th 2001 (and replayed on March 19), the Fox TV network aired a program called “Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?”, hosted by X-Files actor Mitch Pileggi. The program was an hour long, and featured interviews with a series of people who believe that NASA faked the Apollo Moon landings in the 1960s and 1970s. The biggest voice in this is Bill Kaysing, who claims to have all sorts of hoax evidence, including pictures taken by the astronauts, engineering details, discussions of physics and even some testimony by astronauts themselves. The program’s conclusion was that the whole thing was faked in the Nevada desert (in Area 51, of course!). According to them, NASA did not have the technical capability of going to the Moon, but pressure due to the Cold War with the Soviet Union forced them to fake it.

How 'bout that Rafael Nadal, huh? He is the hungriest tennis player I have ever seen. He is a brute! Damn he's good. I think he is on steroids. Does anyone check the players for drugs or steroids? I've often thought they put a gram of meth in those quart-size bottles of flavored water they sip out of. What do you think?

I have the famous McEnroe / Borg match with the 15-17 tie-break on DVD. Yesterday's match however surpassed that one.

Yesterday's Wimbledon final was the greatest tennis match ever played. It was ferocious. I was yelling at times. I've never seen such a thing. I didn't know tennis could be played at such an extreme!

Now will come the Nadal era. He's only 22 years old.

I missed much of the match, after Nadal went up two sets to nil. I was surprised that Roger came back, as Rafael OWNS him mentally.

You are right: he is a monster. He is pretty good for the game. To be honest, I like Roger. He is technically perfect. But he gets me sick: he doesn't know how to really fight when it comes to Rafael.

Obviously he showed something coming back from two sets down. But 9-7 in the fifth means it is a mental struggle. And in that vein, it is no surprise to me that Nadal won.

The king is dead. Long live the king.
