Weazl's sentiments exactly . . .

Ron Paul and a Brokered Convention
By Tina Johnson

I've lowered my expectations for Ron Paul. It is now apparent that the one-time revolution is stalled and perhaps even in a serious downswing but hope remains for many that believe in the message. There have been all kinds of wild predictions for the good doctor from Texas and all have fallen short at this point.

It should have been a monster month for the Ron Paul campaign. That's what many (including me) had believed and now it appears that his goal is to just try and hold on for as long as possible and remain in the race and hope for a brokered convention. I'm not certain what the plans are at that point but a brokered convention will not produce any better results than the early primaries and Caucuses. In fact, it would likely be an embarrassment for those of us that have put so much into the campaign.

The Iowa showing was poor and my political friends told me that was to be expected. But it was in New Hampshire where I saw my biggest disappointment. I believed that Paul would work hard and spend nearly all of the money he had raised in the state to try and make a strong showing, perhaps even as high as a second place finish. But his campaign used a different strategy, and make no mistake it was a losing strategy, and they failed.

My hopes were dashed in the Granite State. Now it appears that Paul's happiness is based on whether or not he defeats Rudy Giuliani. Big deal, Rudy never had much of a shot and is not going anywhere, his strategy has failed as much as Paul's. I see no reason to tout Dr. Paul as the better loser of the two. Paul energized many young people like myself, and I would have loved to see him make the effort worthwhile.

Now as I see him limping in with website messages touting a "brokered convention" and defeating Rudy. Sad. He writes, "We can't let this movement be stopped, nor slowed. I promise you that I will continue to pour all my heart and mind and strength into the battle."

Perhaps he should have started with New Hampshire. In my circle of Paul supporters, the excitement is down and many have said that their hopes are dashed. I had prepared to be disappointed, I always realized this was a long shot, but I at least expected some effort.
