A toast to Soc and his cognac

She is 60 years old.

Tears are in my eyes.

I love her now more than when I was that 15 year old little hippie growing up in San Francisco and she sucked the heart out of me and took it for her own with "Both Sides Now."

Her best album is "Blue."

Get "Blue" if you don't already have it.

If there is a true goddess on Earth, Joni Mitchell fits the bill.

I don't want you to think it is a racial bias because I love Billy Holiday just as madly. I fly into the cosmos with headphones and Billy's "God Bless the Child," "Don't explain," "Good Morning Heartache," "Autumn In New York...."

Just now, Joni Mitchell has reappeared after 10 years of absence and she looks and sounds better than ever.

Thank you, Weaze, for personalizing this story and your website.

It's good to rediscover some emotion when you've been thinking dry for so long.

Glad to have ya.

And don't worry about any racial bias: you're free to love (and hate) whoever you want.

As you have said: we are quite meaningless anyway, so what difference does it make?

That said, I'll repeat what I just wrote: Glad to have ya.

Cheers.

ps- But just for the record, when it comes to Billy Holliday, I love Strange Fruit.

pps- Too bad that heroin messed her up, but I guess that adds to the allure of a tragic chantreuse.

"Blue, songs are like tattoos
You know Ive been to sea betore
Crown and anchor me
Or let me sail away
Hey blue, here is a song for you
Ink on a pin
Underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in"

Cheers!
