The Unparalled Shame of Bush's Iraq War or How the Moron Destroyed America's Military

57-Year Old Georgia Soldier Killed In Iraq

SAVANNAH -- The military says a 57-year-old Army reservist from Savannah was killed in Iraq when his vehicle struck an explosive device.

Officials said yesterday that Staff Sergeant Carlos Dominguez died Saturday in Taji, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 414th Civil Affairs Battalion in Utica, New York.

A native of Los Angeles, Dominguez had lived in Savannah for nearly 20 years. He deployed to Iraq in April after being called back to active duty, his family said.

His wife said that as a civil affairs specialist, Dominguez was helping Iraqis rebuild and was proud of his work.

She says he knew his work was dangerous, but that he believed strongly in it.

His daughter, Lisa Dominguez, said she remembers her father singing the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" to her, but substituting the name "Lucy" with "Lisa."

The 28-year-old called her father a loving man who, "gave with his whole heart."
