Russia against indefinite foreign military presence in Iraq
UNITED NATIONS, September 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia is confident that the foreign military presence in Iraq must not be constant and indefinite, Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said at a session of the U.N. Security Council on Iraq on Thursday.
The ambassador stressed that in the long run all foreign troops will have to fully withdraw from the Iraqi territory, delegating responsibility for the events in the country to the national army and police.

He also stressed that fight against terrorism in Iraq only with the use of force has no prospects. It is more realistic to achieve national accord and reconciliation through a broad political dialogue, the Russian U.N. ambassador stressed.
