Israel miscalulated, sure. But so did Hezbollah: they didn't expect this massive Israeli response. And many in the group are certain to get killed. But they will keep fighting, they will keep inflicting damage on Israel, and Iran will keep supplying them, through Syria more and more weapons to weaken it's future enemy Israel.

Either way, Iran wins.

Hezbollah has just been a convenient pawn, Lebanon the second front, testing ground, and the US watches, unable to do anything because of it's Iraqi disaster.
