WASHINGTON, June 1, 2006 (UPI) — Some U.S. Marines gave false information to their officers about the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha last year, an Army source told The Washington Post.
The unidentified source said the Pentagon investigation will conclude there was falsified reporting to superiors, who in turn failed to pay enough attention to the details.
There are two Pentagon investigations expected to conclude within days into the Nov. 19 incident that followed a roadside bombing that killed a Marine. In the hours after, witnesses said Marines responded with a rampage, shooting 24 people, including children.

Sorry I haven't been around lately but I had some medical issues to take care of.
I've also been interested in this story and possible coverup. Even though I believe that most likely the Marines engaged in a vengeful retribution, aren't they entitled to the same due process that they risked their lives trying to bring to Iraq?
Shouldn't we allow the process to carry through before pronouncing guilt?
Aren't these men at least entitled to a fair trial instead of being crucified by the liberal media?
Why is it that it seems most liberals are happy one at events like this occur?
Shame on you
weaz..how do you add "my tube" to your blog?
Hope all is well on the medical front. I think it's pretty clear that the civilians were killed, and American soldiers did it. So I'll suspend judgement on WHICH particular soldier did what, but that American soldiers killed civilians in cold blood seems beyond dispute.
Liberals may be happy because Liberals said the whole fucking idea was a complete mistake, that war is not the answer and would not bring peace. And boneheaded Rethuglicans are now learning the hard way that the Liberals were right all along, and events like these prove that the Rethuglicans have soon to recognize that soldiers perform the same horrific acts as the monsters they spent months or years demonizing.
I'm not happy. Far from it. Disgusted. Disgusted that people from my country are fucking up another country so completely. And ashamed. Ashamed that people such as yourself think that I'd be happy that my countrymen are killing little girls and boys and men and women in their homes, when resistence fighters have set off bombs telling them to get out of their country, for their are not welcome.
When will you get the hint? They hate you/us. Is it confusing?

Hope your medical issues are okay. You may be crazy and naive, but you seem curious enough to evolve. ;-)
weaz..your tube was easy enough.
I've known you long enough to take at your word that stories like this don't make you happy but ducky I have to disagree with you. I have seen many reporters almost gleefully report the number of American dead as well as Iraqi citizens and soldiers.
Anybody the thought this could be done without American and Iraqi deaths is naïve. Just because the job isn't finished, doesn't mean the job will be a failure.
weaz..my central question was simple but yet unanswered..don't these Marines have the right to due process (under the UCMJ) before they are convicted? Aren't they innocent until proven guilty? Don't they deserve to have their rights protected as any defendant should?
I directly answered your question. Maybe because you didn't like my response, you didn't absorb it. But it was here:
"I think it's pretty clear that the civilians were killed, and American soldiers did it. So I'll suspend judgement on WHICH particular soldier did what, but that American soldiers killed civilians in cold blood seems beyond dispute."
And so yes, individial soldiers are entitled to due process, but the issue of whether civilians were killed by American solders is clear.
