The End of the Illusion

The announcement by Mafia attorney Alberto Gonzalez marks the clear end of the illusion of democracy in America. The criminality of the Bush Administration is so extensive that he authorizes tracing of reporter's phone calls, and their prosecution upon disclosure of classified information, even as criminality within the Bush Administration runs as rampant as wildfire and goes unchecked. It is nice that the Rethuglicans now have what they want: complete control of the Executive, Judicial and Congressional branches. And what do they do with this power? Veer straight towards a fascist state. Complete power run amok in the Executive, ignoring Congressional supervision, judicial abdication of the power of the Bill of Rights, and Congressional corruption and obsequiousness beyond comprehension. Meanwhile the party that advocated American military supremacy, has not only lost the two wars in which it has fought (Afghanistan, Iraq), but has destroyed the American military power in the process.

This Adminstration has destroyed the country beyond repair in five short years. And as it continues its trajectory towards Iran, the end is near. But then again, that's been the story of George W. Bush's life, isn't it?
