Weazl received a BA in Economics with an emphasis on developing countries from Yale University in the late 80's, then received his JD from Columbia Law School in the early 90's. He has practiced as both a corporate lawyer and as a criminal lawyer for nearly a decade, but currently tries to balance an interest in the esoteric with a need to decipher the moment, howling to the moon that the ship is sinking.
If this would have happened in one of them evil countries, this'd be newsworthy for a week - SPECIAL REPORT - VIOLENT CRACKDOWN - DISSIDENTS SILENCED - GLEAM OF HOPE. Like so...
On the subject. I find it remarkable how the 'Freeworld' works for if these same protesters went to Belorus, Myanmar or some other country on the anvil and got their noses busted, they would get unprecedented access to global media, a platform. Whereas at home they are just bums cast in blogosphere irrelevance.
Exactly, because they (we) are just pawns to be used for political purposes by people who make decisions over the lives of others and work to shape opinions to mobilize support actions to do the same.
When people recognize that "principles" like religious doctrines, bodies of law, and forms of government are simply ready made sets of collective thought to suppress critical thinking and mobilize mass opinion, then they would have a chance to see how they are getting fleeced the world over. But these tools are quite persuasive, so people are ready to "fight for democracy", "wage jihad", promote "the rule of law", argue for "promoting Christian values" and such other bullshit sound-bytes devoid of true intrinsic value, but quite capable nevertheless of causing people to strap explosive on themselves, round up millions and incarcerate them, wage wars on countries that have not attacked anyone, and even more atrocities feeling fully vindicated by the pre-packaged belief system that they have bought and swallowed.

Of course. This is propaganda in action. Double standards. Hypocrisy.
But at least some media outlets are reporting it.
When it happens in the US, which it OFTEN has, it doesn't get on television.
Canada's media is thus a bit more free.
