Weazl has recently become quite concerned about the imminent dangers of environmental collapse. Weazl is by no means an expert, but would suggest that the challenges (and dangers) that face us are even greater than those posed by war.
So weazl wants to share two book length reports that have come his way.
The first: Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change was the result of a group of scientists who convened in England in February 2005,and produced this prodigious book that was released in May of that year. The book is on sale at Amazon.com for $130, but weazl found a site where the book is downloadable as a pdf for for free.
The book is HERE.
Similarly, with respect to our oceans, weazl was also advised about the report, America's Living Oceans, charting a course for a sea change, which seems less scientific and more political than the English report, but may be a good start towards understanding some of the challenges we face. The report is available here.
In addition, there is a very good multimedia presentation devised by the LA Times that is available here.
With so much at stake it's sad to look towards our species' greatest challenge and realize that the world's biggest economy is being driven to the ground by a troglodyte, war driven, dry drunk who believes the earth was made in seven days.
We need the best and brightest minds to rapidly shift directions of mankind, otherwise a very bleak future looms.

Well, I hope they don't get YOU on the project. We alreay have too many Bushie lunatics trying to "magange" areas, with great success, no doubt.
But it's not that everyone has to die. Only for you cut and paste, two dimensional "conservatives" is life so binary.
Sorry
You write about people I don't even think you understand.
Marcuse's theories have been adopted and used by the Rovian fascists you love and admire.
If you used your brain to absorb and consider all the information you allow your fingers to cut and paste, it really wouldn't be such a waste of taxpayers money as it is having you work for NASA.
If you were able to write a coherent thought then we could have a discussion. But your ADD has really caused you to be only able to sniff well formed thoughts that your mania won't let you take your time to understand.
I guess it's what happens after way too much FPM, many conversations with the beaker moron and calling oneself a Bush supporter.
Neurologically damaging, isn't it?
Soc,
Like so many Rethugs, he needs crutches to hide the fact that his own thoughts are precious few and he's too insecure to share them, aspects that you, in your worst moments, never shared.
Soc,
You are definitely quite your own man. That's fer sher.
And no, weazle, I don't find it neurologically damaging. Quite the reverse. It keeps the neural pathways myelinated, because I constantly retrace the steps that lead back to the same reference points.
Sorry, farmer, it's called autism. No wonder your so socially off.
And as for the "we're here, and they're not"... soon I'll be gone, and they'll still be here... and I kinda like that idea.
Or is the diagnosis manic-depressive?
Soon you'll be gone? Yeah, that's why you childish fascist want to bring the whole world with you. Nice Christians you are.
I guess you have to be a Christian now to keep a job at NASA, hunh?
Guess that science stuff is for the pinheads, hunh?
And we wonder why we're fucked.
Me, I'll be happy if before I die I were capable of discovering even one single new truth.
You should.
Your mania prevents you from writing your thoughts down in one post.
Time to read the writing on the wall: you're crackin' up.
I'm trying to give you helpful advice. Soc will probably laugh at your frailty.
