Well, what you're saying is true. And I've known this for many decades, and it's been a guiding principle for the same length of time.

As a doctrine, it's called existentialism and has been around for more than a half century.

Yet I still think that it's sad that, in the words of the existentialist, Man is nothing. Or in the words of Richard Wright, Man is a broken promise. Or in the words of the Matrix, Humanity is a virus.

To know that you are a virus, plaguing the earth until it and everything upon it does, that's not fun.

Even if I accept it's true and believe it.
