Endgame

Weazl's critical thinking skills are a bit on hold after being spun round and round by a marvelous mirvacle. Nevertheless there are a couple points worth noting: the US foreign policy in the Middle East is in complete shambles. The raison d'etre of the Iraqi misadventure, oil, has not been the financial windfall that the US warmongers hoped for and is vulnerable to further collapse, the US drive for its massive network of permanent bases is being threatened in Congress, the warmongers drive to complete its massive half billion dollar embassy is continuing to stir animosity, and idiotic Democrats coupled with Counsel of Foreign Relations types are positing diving Iraq up into three parts in a divide to conquer strategy, while cutting off not-so-secret discussions with the very people who can help bring about peace. In the meantime, there is Iran, which is increasingly (albeit naively) less intimidated about the US threat (forgetting the truism that cornered rats do attack), and is not only directly identifying the US foreign policy confusion, but is directly challenging the US' imperial designs.

Meanwhile, the few remaining Muslim US allies are facing problems of their own: Pakistan is enduring increasing problems across its Afghan border, Afghanistan devolves, and Egypt continues its pattern of repression given the popularity of the Muslim Brotherhood.

And in alphabetical order after Aznar and Berlusconi, the latest "ally" has been hit with the Bush curse.

And, finally, things aren't so good on the home front either for the Moron.

But, hell, if you want to watch something absolutely mindless, but fun, then click here (weaz is still looking for that class).

Weaz...I'm curious as to why so many people think that we are in Iraq for oil? This charge is used every time we use military action in the Middle East. If we were there to steal their oil, wouldn't the price be below three dollars per gallon?
If all of this was just about oil when are we going to start nationalizing Iraq's oil fields?
I will say this, if oil was the reason than this policy has been nothing but a complete failure.
Wouldn't it be easier to just take over Mexico's and Venezuela's oil?

Joe Biden has been one my favorite Democrats. He tows the party line but in most instances I think he speaks with reasoned sincerity. But saying that, his plan to divide Iraq just doesn't make sense. Instead of trying to get one functioning government, we would have to organize three separate governments along with three separate armies, police forces, etc..
We would never get our forces out.

You're analysis is entirely fundamentally flawed, but it would take me more than a minute to deconstruct it. But believe me, if the Bushies could lower the price of oil then they would.

But look up the "Eisenhower Doctrine". Look at Nixon's plan to invade the Middle East during the seventies oil embargo. I think this might be a good beginning to understand the strategic importance that oil has had and why oil is the sine qua non of our involvement in Iraq.
